Virtual Meetings

It’s a whole new way for us to connect and stay in community. We’re using Zoom as the platform for our ministries and committee meetings. If you’re not familiar with Zoom, here are some tips to get you started.

How to Use Zoom:

Here’s a great series of articles on how to get started with Zoom. The very first thing you want to do is either download Zoom to your computer, and/or download the app to your smartphone.

Scheduling a Zoom Meeting through CCD:

Christ Church has two licenses for Zoom, which offers more features than the free version. Please coordinate with Beth Ann or Sarah in order to schedule a meeting for your ministry or committee using one of our host licenses. Please note: Since we only have two, we can only have two meetings that overlap, so meeting times may need to be adjusted based on demand.

Adding a Virtual Background to Zoom:

Customize your backdrop with a virtual background! It is pretty straightforward to do and can be a fun way to express yourself. You can even use your favorite Christ Church location.

How to add a Virtual Background in Zoom

  1. In a Zoom meeting click the ^arrow next to Start/Stop Video.
  2. Click Choose a virtual background… If prompted, click Download to download the package for virtual background without a green screen.

Make sure your clothes don’t match the virtual background, or you will LITERALLY blend into the background image!

Here are some interiors from Christ Church you might like to use. Simply download the desired image to your computer.

Using Zoom on Your Own:

Zoom offers a free version of its software that may meet your needs just fine! Free Zoom meetings can only be 40 minutes in length, so bear that in mind. This may be useful for small groups who want to meet ad hoc, without involving the Office Staff.
