Arts & Education

Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God–what is good and acceptable and perfect.

– Romans 12:2

Adult Bible Study

This class meets on Sunday mornings from September to June, and explores wide-ranging portions of the Bible throughout the year. Barbara prepares readings and lectures for each class–there is no homework, and all are welcome to drop in at any time.

Lectionary Study

This class, called “Preparing for Sunday”, meets on Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. to read and reflect on the appointed scriptures for the upcoming Sunday. A lectionary is a calendar of Sunday scripture readings. The conversation is deep, informal, and welcoming.

Youth Formation

There are many opportunities for children and youth to grow spiritually and personally at Christ Church. Godly Play is a Montessori-style curriculum for ages Pre-K through middle school, and Rite 13 and J2A are signature programs for teens. Festive traditions occure throughout the year, such as the Blessing of the Animals, Halloween Sunday, Easter Egg Hunts, and Mothers’ Day speeches from graduating seniors. Dedicated volunteers make all of this happen, sustaining a loving, inclusive community in which to raise children and grow in faith and joy.

Creation Continues

This fun art fellowship meets most Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. on Zoom. At each session, Sally teaches the group how to make a certain watercolor painting, and all create it at home using their own materials (dollar store stuff works great!). The group’s work has been featured on recent parish Christmas cards. Anyone can drop in at any time.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Making a prayer shawl or lap robe is a spiritual practice which embodies our thoughts and prayers for the recipient.

Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, each shawl is blessed. It is then given with our prayers to a particular person by our Eucharistic Visitors. Simple patterns are available, and there is plenty of free yarn to choose from.

History and Archives

We preserve the history of Christ Church through stories and photographs. If you are interested in helping organize photos, written materials, or dig deeper into connections, there are informal opportunities to do so throughout the year. We would also love to create new video content to better document our life together today, so that future generations will be able to have a sense of what the church was like in the 21st century, in the same way we have artifacts from the 19th and 20th centuries.
