Thanks to ALL who launched our new Bag Lunch Program today! 🥪 The photos show only SOME of those who’ve helped get this started! At 2pm on the first Sunday of each month, we’ll be outside with fresh, nutritious bag lunches, and other items as they become available. Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 1st at 7pm, the Christ Church Choir under the direction of Dr. Edward Maki-Schramm will present Durufle's Requiem, featuring soloists Dr. Jenny Cresswell and Dr. Jonathan Lasch, and woven together with poetry. Share in an evening filled with beautiful music and words of assurance in an exquisite setting. This time of year, we like to tell the tale of the Ghost of Miss Kitsy, or Mary Elizabeth Trowbridge, one of Christ Church's most devoted members. Many have reported seeing her over the years. In fact, so frequent were sightings that she even made the @detroitfreepress in 1953!

The story goes that this humble servant of the church threatened to haunt Christ Church if too much fuss was made over her. Well, her wishes were ignored, and a large brass plaque was hung in her honor in the sanctuary. Some say Miss Kitsy was as good as her word, and that she still visits her beloved church from time to time. Her kindly presence has been reported by members of the choir and the altar guild, and there is even a photograph purported to capture a vague likeness of her. Illuminated from within ✨ this window depicts Christ surrounded by a family, the faces of whom bear the actual likenesses of members of the Lyster family. The Rev. William Lyster was our first rector (lead priest), who served from 1846-1849. This window, made by Mayer & Company in 1905, was given in memory of Dr. Henry Lyster, Rev. Lyster’s son, by his family ❤️

One of its inscriptions reads: While I sojourned with you, I sought light rather than darkness ✨

🐾 Come one, come all, come, all creatures great and small, to the Blessing of the Animals this Sunday, October 1st! From 9am-12pm the Party Animals petting zoo will be open, and at 12pm Dan the Creature Man will introduce his exotic animals! A short service in honor of St. Francis will be held outdoors at 9:30am, in addition to regular (indoor) services at 8:15am & 10:30am.
